South African Model Gliding Association thanks White Hills Radio Flyers for the use of the club 6 June 2010.
Dear Brett, et al
SUPPORT OF THE MODEL GLIDING ASSOCIATION
The South African Model Gliding Association (MGA) is tasked with promoting & developing RC Gliding within South Africa. Within these objectives considerable effort is expanded on competitive events to ensure that our local pilots are able to compete at international levels.
The WHRF has been a traditional venue since inception of the Highveld Thermal League (HTL) in the early 1990’s. We have received numerous compliments regarding this site, and the HTL event hosted on Sunday, 6 June 2010 was no exception – the weather & field were absolutely superb for a RC Soaring competition of this nature.
For your reference, 22 pilots were in attendance, which is a little down on numbers compared to past events, but the top 15 pilots all placed within 5% of the winners score after 6 rounds – indicating an extremely closely fought day! The 2010 SA National F3J Senior team took top honours, with Craig Goodrum & Chris Adrian both scoring perfect rounds of 5,000 points (normalised score) each, and Paul Carnall in close second with 4,998 points. Pilots from 7 clubs were represented; with the furthest travellers being from New Zealand & Secunda making this as an "international event".
On behalf of the MGA, the 2010 HTL representative Johan Bruwer & all the pilots / helpers in attendance of the event, we would like to thank the members of the WHRF club, the club committee & yourself for permitting us to exclusively utilise the club site for the day.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries.
Kind regards,
Lionel Brink
Chairman: Model Glider Association
